Circus Comes to Town
April 9-- The Kelly Miller Circus is back for its annual visit to our community. This year the circus put up its big tent at Engler Park where bad weather reduced attendance somewhat on opening day. But for those who turned out for the show, the circus was as big and bold as it has always been in previous years. Sponsored again this year by the St. Francois County Rotary Club, this family entertainment has always proved to be as entertaining to adults as it has been to children.
Among those in the cast this year were tigers, an elephant, zebras, camels, llamas, and a bevy of clowns. Founded 77 years ago, the Oklahoma-based Kelly Miller Circus travels some 10,000 miles and entertains in more than 200 cities each year between February and October.
Funds earned by the Rotary Club from its share of advanced ticket sales are used to support the club's numerous charitable projects which include various scholarships and assistance to the Southeast Missouri Family Violence Council.
