Yes, Virginia, There Is a Spring!
March 29 -- With the outdoor temperature hovering around 34 degrees early this morning, it's quite natural that some people (including our Cub Reporter) might think that warm weather and other attributes of Spring might never get here to stay. Fact is, there are emerging signs that weather change is on its way. Outdoors, change is all around us. Lawns are beginning to show signs of growing and becoming greener. Some trees and shrubs are coming to life as well. But a sure sign of Spring is always the first flowers that bloom. Around our funeral home, the crocuses always pop out first and are such a welcome sign after months of winter weather. The jonquils are next in line at the corner of Liberty and A streets. And sometime later this week we hope to see the yellow tulips pop out for their spectacular (but short-lives) at the front of our building. But the most impressive floral statement in our neighborhood is a block away behind the present Library building on First Street. This impressive display of yellow and green seems to say to everyone that drives by that Spring has arrived and Summer is on the way.
