Young and Old Enjoy Walking With Walker

April 18 --   Another big turnout this year guaranteed the success of the "5th Annual Run/Walk With Walker" event centered at the Farmington High School. Reports in the Daily Journal indicated that nearly $15,000 had been raised by the Walker Johns Foundation at the start of the day's activities with additional donations expected to further increase that total. The Foundation, which helps families in St. Francois, Washington, Madison, Iron, Perry and Ste. Genevieve counties, assists local children suffering from cancer. The organization was founded in 2012 by family and friends of Walker Johns, a Farmington High School student who died in 2011 after a long fight against cancer. Some of the children now being helped in their cancer treatments were in attendance at the walk/run.
