Knights 28 vs. Fox 14
Knights Start Season with Convincing Win Over Fox
When Daily Journal writer Craig Vaughn wrote a pre-season evaluation of the Knights' 2017 season (July 20), he quoted Head Coach Erik Krupp who said that he expected to see fine performances again this year from such returning team members as Nathaniel Link (quarterback and defensive lineman), Carson Sutton (sophomore quarterback and linebacker), Cody Barnes (linebacker and offensive lineman), Devin Hughes (offensive and defensive lineman), and Cody Wright (defensive back and wide receiver). Indeed, if the first two games of the season are any indication, the 2017 Knights will once again be a force to be recognized in conference play this year.
In its first scheduled game of the season (August 18), the Knights handily defeated the Fox Warriors 28-14. To be sure, the home team had to overcome some first game/quarter non-scoring jitters before the Knights crossed the goal line for the first time in the second quarter. By halftime, the home team had posted a 21-14 lead. Thanks to a TD by junior Adam Kthiri in the fourth quarter, the Knights came away with a solid 14 point margin win over the visiting St. Louis area team.
