Light Turnout for Memorial Day Observance at Court House
May 29 — Despite perfect temperatures in the lower 70s, only a moderate-sized crowd turned out this year for the annual Memorial Day celebration at the Court House. One of the reasons for the lower than expected crowd size may have been caused by widespread damage that visited area homes two days earlier which caused fallen trees and flooded basements. Nevertheless, that weather storm did not seem to deter members of the American Legion, the V.F.W., AMVETS, the Patriot Guard and many of their wives from taking part in this year’s event. Previous to this ceremony, many representatives of these groups visited local cemeteries where they honored the graves of veterans buried there. Below are photos of some of the participants.
