Knights 28 vs. Clayton 18
Rain & Fumbles could not Deny Knights a Victory
At times conditions can dictate the style of football that will be played. This is especially true when gusting winds and driving rain showers make it hard to a good offense. The Farmington Knights were tasked with just this problem on Saturday October 7 Clayton Grayhounds on their home field. Farmington jumped out to a quick 14-0 lead with touchdowns from both Tycen Gray and a 60 yard run by Knights quarterback Nathaniel Link. During the game, Link ended up rushing for 126 yards and two touchdowns on 25 carries. Farmington had to overcome five fumbles on the day and would do this with big plays from the defense when senior Devan Hughes blocked a 39 yard field goal attempt and also a touchdown by lineman Michael Simmons after he picked up a fumble on the Clayton 5 yard line and he was pushed into the end zone for the score by a host of Knights. With all of the weather caused mishaps, Farmington played well enough on both sides of the ball to come out on top with a 28-18 victory. The Knights will next be in action on the road when they travel to Ballwin to face the Parkway West Longhorns Friday night.
